How to install The Golf Ref as a PWA
Why we recommend The Golf Ref
The Golf Ref stands out for its voice-first interaction, allowing golfers to quickly ask questions and receive spoken rulings without navigating complex menus. Its 'AI Referee' capability provides instant guidance, accompanied by rule references, enhancing on-course decision-making. The inclusion of '10 Essential Rules for Beginners' with lifetime access makes it particularly valuable for new players seeking to understand fundamental rules without jargon. The 'Glasses Mode' feature, compatible with Bluetooth audio glasses, further innovates how users can receive rulings discreetly and hands-free, integrating seamlessly into a modern golfer's kit.
Best use cases
Best for: Golfers on the course needing immediate, spoken clarification of rules during play. It's also ideal for beginners looking to learn fundamental golf rules through concise, jargon-free audio lessons. Coaches and instructors can recommend it as a supplementary tool for quick rule lookups and student education. Furthermore, its 'Glasses Mode' makes it suitable for tech-savvy golfers who prefer hands-free audio assistance.
Honest limitations
The Golf Ref is not a substitute for official competition committees or qualified rules officials. While it offers two free rulings, unlimited access and beginner lessons require a one-off payment of £9.99. Offline functionality is not evident, suggesting an internet connection is likely required for rulings. It is not designed for in-depth, nuanced legal interpretation of golf rules, but rather for quick, practical guidance.
